Home Sweet Home
Well, we're back! We arrived home at midnight last night - 1 o'clock for us - but its alright because I slept until 11:15 this morning to make up!
It's really weird being back actually, and not having to speak French any more. I swear my vocabulary has all but doubled in the last 3 weeks. For example, thanks to many trips to various chateaux I now know what 'dix-septieme siecle' means. I'm sure it'll be very useful!
Anyway, we had a lovely time. We have a really nice caravan complete with oven, microwave, bathroom, etc so its not exactly a struggle to survive. It rained quite often, but that was only to be expected, although the golf-ball sized hailstones (and I'm not exaggerating) were pretty scary. We had some really nice sunny days too though, and spent quite a lot of time near the campsite pool.
Ben did lots of fishing and bought lots of fishing equipment so he's happy, Mum stocked up all her cupboards so she's happy and I got 2 really nice new skirts so I'm happy. And Dad bought most of it, so he's possibly not quite so happy.
We also went places, visited some really pretty towns; one day we went to a Medieval Fete which was fun - there was this really interesting stall with about 30 different instruments of torture...
We came back to the news that one of our guinea pigs had died, which is sad, but she was a bit ill so at least she's not suffering any longer. We've got 2 left now, but they're both old and Amber's skin is looking sore and she's lost a lot of hair so I'm watching them carefully. They've had a good life.
I've got a week now before school starts, its really scary to think that I'll be in the top year, we can boss everyone else around!
But now I've got to go and empty the dishwasher, joy of joys, so do comment and tell me what you've all been up to this summer!
